JOBS????

Relatives jobs

Granddaddy Poppa? He rocked in a chair either on the porch or in a corner of the living room and gave out baby ruths and spit in his spit can. Does anyone know what he did prior to what I know of him?

Grandaddy Vowell Ran a small country store out by Franklin's and Imogene's near the quiver river bridge. Also worked in the meat market of the grocery store in Ruleville

Granny Vowell Took care of everyone? Cooked the best biscuits? Was she a stay at home mom? Any help here?

Keep adding to this
thanks ed

She was also a nurse's aid. I don't know what Grandaddy Papa did.

Granny worked for Ika Baker's department store in downtown Ruleville. When Jack and I married in 1955 she got Ika Baker to open the store on Sunday for me to buy panty hoes for my wedding.
After that she went to the hospital working in the nursery as an aid. I was blessed with her working in the nursery since she gave each of my babies their first bath and took take care of them while we were in the hospital. Way back then we had to stay in the hospital for a week

We were always wild with excitement when you came home to have us another baby...and they let us in to look at them, too.

Didn't someone who was in the "movie industry" use the building Ike Baker's was in as a show place for some costumes and props from John Wayne movies? Whatever happened to that venture?

Luster Bayless opened Fair store- as a museum of Hollywood stuff. He was a designer for movie clothes, mostly John Wayne. Then he tried a rest. Not opened now. Baker's was closer to the picture show, I think possibly between the bank and the show?

Also Granddaddy Vowell and Uncle Jack had a store on Highway 8 by the Arant's, later that store became Collier's.

And this store is where the bear-wrestling show parked for at least one night. Chuck wrestled that bear. Did Ronald?

Granddaddy Papa worked in a store. Even out in the hills. Franklin said that he ran the store by their house before Granddaddy Vowell did
